For many beekeepers, treating bees for pests is a “pain in the arse,” whether you have one hive or many, and is often considered an arduous task. The application of treatments is cumbersome as most require the beekeeper to place them in-between two heavy brood boxes. Beekeepers must pick up and either tilt and balance heavy boxes on their sides or remove them altogether. This task is further complicated when boxes are stuck together.  To separate the hive boxes and frames, the top brood box needed to be lifted, quickly twisted and removed.  Needless to say, this severely agitates the bees and, in this process, many are dispatched to heaven. This method also often results in bees wanting to give the beekeeper a “stinger middle finger.”
